Dadaocheng in Taipei carries a relic and nostalgic atmosphere, and the reception center in this case is located right at it.
In order to make the people visiting here feel the Baroque style, we dismantle the redundant cover and turn the house back to its original looking while also preserving and combining the old materials and new materials; such as new wooden and plaster flooring and maintaining the moulding of the old ceiling and the relic walls and pillars. The arcade and the brass spiral stairways up through the space present a strong feeling of nostalgia. The design can also be seen on the outside of the building which combine the western arcade-shaped window and Chinese pane artwork. In the back of the building, we break all the division and make it a high ceiling space, using windows on the top of the building to expand the space, inducing sunlight into the building. The space is bright with the natural sun light, energetic and lively.
The waterscape in the lobby reflects the space outdoor and expand the vision vertically. The second floor is the main meeting area with wooden flooring and stone furniture that give warmth to the space. The covered lighting gives the space a relief and the customers can stay in it comfortably. The third floor is the VIP section which is decorated with colorful furniture but also preserve the relic of the old ceiling, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. The fourth floor is separated in to several spaces for exhibition. The artworks on the walls and the plants placed there make the space an art museum. In the back of the building, there is also a window open to the nostalgic building across the street, which makes itself another artwork. On the top floor of the building, it is designed to be a model home for the guests to get the realist experience.
The building maintains the nostalgic feature of the old building and inject new elements into it, providing a vivid and special experience for the guests.
